Short-Term Cycle Lockers

Dublin City Council is engaging in a pilot project which will see cycle lockers being installed in various locations around the city centre.

These lockers are intended for short-term use, enabling visitors to securely park their bikes for a few hours while they socialise, shop, dine, or visit the city centre's many attractions.

Secure cycle lockers will be installed in several public locations (both on-street and off-street) throughout Spring 2026, with an evaluation period of at least one year to assess their impact.

What is a Cycle Locker?

A cycle locker is a secure unit with a lockable door which is designed to contain a single bicycle.

The Dublin pilot project will incorporate cycle lockers from several hardware and software providers.

The cycle lockers will be fitted with smartlocks, meaning a user can open and close their locker - and pay for their bike's stay - all within a simple smartphone app.

How do I use a Cycle Locker?

Instructions on how to use a cycle locker will be displayed on its door. It will generally involve downloading an app and creating an account within that app.

As more cycle lockers are installed, we will add further information here about their locations and how to use them.

The first cycle lockers have now been installed on Capel Street and Grafton Street, with six lockers in each location.

The lockers cost €1/hour for the first two hours, €2/hour from the third hour onwards, with a maximum daily fee of €12.
