Fingal County Council, in partnership with UCD and Bleeper, has launched the Ongar Bike Library, a new initiative aimed at promoting sustainable transportation and providing accessible cycling opportunities for the local community.
Located at Ongar Community Centre, the Ongar Bike Library offers residents the chance to borrow a range of e-bikes and cargo electric bikes for an extended period of time, free of charge.
The library is open to all and will help make cycling a convenient and affordable option for commuting, leisure, and exercise.
Bleeper is delighted to be supplying the bikes for the Ongar Bike Library, including the ongoing maintenance of the bikes, which include a range of ebikes, folding bikes, and cargo bikes.
Attending the launch, Deputy Mayor of Fingal, Councillor JK Onwumereh expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “The Ongar Bike Library is a fantastic addition to our community. It encourages people to choose cycling as a sustainable and healthy mode of transport, while also reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality.”
David Storey, Director of Services for Environment, Climate Action, Active Travel & Sport at Fingal County Council, added, “We are committed to creating a more sustainable and active Fingal. The Ongar Bike Library is a key part of our efforts to promote cycling and make it accessible to everyone.”
