Bleeper has launched a new shared cargo bike service in Dublin as part of a pilot project with Dublin City Council's Beta Projects office. The service will enable members of the public to hire an electric cargo bike using the Bleeper app.
The new service operates from a dedicated bike hangar which has been installed beside the Dublin Bikes station in Portobello.
There are two cargo bikes available to hire; one frontloading 'Box' cargo bike, and a 'Longtail' cargo bike which has an extended rear rack. Both cargo bikes are electric assist, which gives the user the assistance of an electric motor while they are pedalling - up to a maximum speed of 25kph when the motor will automatically stop assisting.
This pilot project is a collaboration between Bleeper and the DCC Beta Projects office, which describes itself as a mechanism for imagining, testing and implementing ways to improve the experience of life in the Dublin City Council area.
The data and feedback from the cargo bike pilot project will be compiled and analysed to assess the potential for a wider rollout of shared cargo bikes across Dublin. You can read more about the analysis of the project on the DCC Beta Page.
